The octopus design was inspired by watching “My Octopus Teacher” and all the news articles on how intelligent octopus are. This octopus applique is cut in several different pieces so that the legs can intertwine. The background is hand stitched in an echo quilting pattern which radiates around the applique. The back matches the applique color with ceramic shell buttons, so that the cover can be removed for laundering. The pillow insert is custom-made using 100% organic cotton muslin, filled with organic kapok.
