The linen applique has a layer of organic cotton batting underneath, giving the applique extra depth. The markings are hand embroidered and copied from a sand dollar found on the beach. The applique is hand cut, with a layer of batting underneath for texture, then hand sewn using a running back stitch. The background and the back are 100% purple linen with buttonholes and square bronze sun buttons, so that the pillow cover can be removed for laundering.
