The hemp/organic cotton applique has a layer of organic cotton batting underneath, giving the applique extra depth. The wing and tail markings are hand embroidered. The applique is hand cut by the artist, then hand sewn using a running back stitch. The background is a lightweight organic cotton voile, a soft opaque fabric. The back of the pillow is the same fabric as the applique, with buttonholes and coconut shell buttons, so that the pillow cover can be removed for laundering.

I have found this fabric to launder best with soap nuts, in cold water and hung dry. It will wrinkle when washed and needs to be pressed for the smooth finish
